It all started in 1972, when the newly founded company J. Hammergaard Hansen Sport A/S was looking for a shoe, which was suitable for badminton due to the demand. The company found a dull “communist” shoe at a fair in Germany. This is the story of the dull communist shoe, which was “invented” by a Danish company and marketed to the largest shoe success ever in Denmark. In spite of the name sounding Japanese, the Kawasaki Footwear shoes are a Danish phenomenon.
