Adi Dassler founded the German sports brand Adidas in 1948 using a combination of his own nickname and last name. He and his brother Rudolph were partners in a shoe company but became rivals after World War II and decided to start their own companies. Rudolf founded Puma. At this point, Adi also gived his sneakers the unmistakable trademark of the 3 stripes.
